Narcotics Anonymous Committees

Public Information / Phoneline

The purpose of the Public Information / Phoneline subcommittee is to inform the public of the existence of Narcotics Anonymous; that we offer recovery from addiction, and to provide information about how and where to find us. All activities directed to that end are carried out in accordance with the Twelve Traditions of Narcotics Anonymous, A Guide to Phoneline Service, and the Public Information Service Manual. The PI subcommittee is also responsible for: training and assigning members to answer the NA Hotline, maintaining this website, and updating and printing the area's meeting list.

Hospitals & Institutions

The purpose of the Hospitals and Institutions subcommittee is to introduce people to the Narcotics Anonymous program and what it has to offer them. The primary focus is that "an addict, any addict, can stop using drugs and lose the desire to use." The H & I subcommittee carries the NA message of recovery to addicts who do not have full access to regular NA meetings. Meetings and/or presentations are provided to hospitals, jails, addiction treatment facilities, detox centers and various other institutions.

We are looking for volunteers to get involved with H & I and speak occasionally or to commit to a once a month attendance at any of the facilities we currently visit. If interested, contact one of the panel coordinators or come to our subcommittee meeting.

Activities

The purpose of the Activities subcommittee is to plan, coordinate, and hold activities for the membership of Narcotics Anonymous. These activities have a three-fold purpose. Listed in order of priority they are: 1) to promote unity within our area; 2) to provide an atmosphere of fun and recovery; and 3) to provide support to the Bayou Recovery Area. When scheduling events and activities, all other subcommittees will co-ordinate with the Activities subcommittee. Activities subcommittee are also responsible for fundraising efforts prior to the convention.
